The idea is that students compete to contribute features to various open source projects. You’re guaranteed to get a t-shirt, and you’re also guaranteed to win some money if you complete at least three tasks. Plus, there’s a fun sense of accomplishment in contributing to open-source projects (I speak from experience). Grand prize winners get an all-expenses paid trip to Google HQ in Mountainview, CA.
