    You split it into 4 and put 2 copies of the original on the bottom with the colors inverted and 2 copies on the top but rotated 90 in opposite directions.

      Right! The interesting thing is that’s not how I thought about making the images. Only after making them did I realize they could be described with this simple rule. I’ll write another post explaining my process. Until then, guesses welcome. =)
